Services for Organizations
Nothing is more important than your mission. We can help you improve your effectiveness and organizational health to make a bigger difference in your community.
Planning
From multi-year strategic plans to program business plans, we assist you to design and develop a plan that fits your needs. We help gather the right data to evaluate markets, products and services, and areas of growth, and articulate clear priorities, goals and actions. We use the planning process to help you prepare for and facilitate positive change. The results are meaningful, user-friendly road maps that guide staff and boards of directors toward their goals.
Strategic Capital Raising
CDFIs and other mission-based lenders need funds for operations and lending. But to raise money, you must be able to tell your story and the stories of your communities in a powerful way. We help to make your case clearly to governmental, philanthropic, faith-based, corporate, and individual sources. We prospect for and research public and private sector grantors, lenders, and investors, and help evaluate your options in light of your needs and capacity. We help develop capital raising strategies and action plans, as well as write select proposals.
“Helen has the rare talent of going beyond stale boilerplate and helps spark an energetic and compelling story.”

CDFI Development
Certification: Becoming certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) with the US Department of the Treasury can be daunting. We demystify the process by helping you understand the criteria and your organization's readiness for certification. We also help develop successful certification applications.
CDFI Fund Awards: We work with certified and certifiable CDFIs and CDEs to assess their competitiveness for Financial Assistance, Technical Assistance, and Native American CDFI Assistance awards, Capital Magnet Fund awards, and New Markets Tax Credit allocations. We can help you make a deliberate decision about the value of applying, and craft your most compelling application.
In recent years, we’ve helped 28 organizations assess, apply, and become certified or recertified as CDFIs. We’ve assisted dozens of emerging and established CDFIs to raise $42 million in Financial Assistance, Technical Assistance, Healthy Food Financing, and Native American awards from the US Department of the Treasury CDFI Fund.
Project Management
An extra pair of hands can help get things done. We supplement your staff capacity by managing special projects when you're stretched or when specific skills are needed temporarily. We apply our organizational, facilitation, communication, and management skills to start, advance, and complete projects as part of your team.
